The Scripture Workshop

Bible study goes deeper when you slow down and work through a passage instead of only reading past it. The Scripture Workshop is a free app that gives you three classic inductive tools — side by side, over the same passage — so you can see how the text is put together and record what you find.

✍️

Phrasing

Wrap your mind around the passage: break it into phrases and indent them to show how each one hangs on the ones around it.

🖍️

Markup

Slow your reading down to observe: mark the text through seven lenses — attention getters, questions, commands, transitions, and more — and give each section a heading until the shape of the passage emerges.

Arcing/Bracketing

Trace the flow of thought: reword the passage proposition by proposition and show how they relate — as arcs or brackets — until the text’s main point stands out.

How it works

Choose a passage, and it becomes a project you can open in any of the three tools — the same verses, the work you have done in each tool kept together. Your studies stay on your own device, so once a passage is loaded you can keep working without an internet connection — on a plane, in the field, or anywhere the signal is poor.

Several Bible translations are available, in English, Swedish, Spanish, Portuguese, and other languages, and the app itself can be used in your language too. You can also import Ellen G. White quotes and study them with all the same tools.
